About Me
I ask questions that others don’t. I spot what’s underneath. I listen differently. I make things feel clearer than they did before.
That’s usually where clients start when they describe working with me.
I'm Jen. I work with established female business owners as a strategic advisor and project leader - stepping in during the moments that matter most to help you think clearly, decide confidently, and get things done.
My background
My career has developed across a range of roles, each one building the foundation for the way I work today.
I started in Recruitment and Personnel Logistics before moving into Learning & Development, Systems, Consultancy, HR, and Compensation and Benefits. Those roles gave me a strong, practical understanding of how organisations operate and, just as importantly, how people think, work and make decisions within them. Over time, I found myself consistently moving closer to the centre of the business. Supporting leaders, shaping direction, and bringing structure to areas that felt unclear or complex.
In 2013, after having my 2nd child, I found myself craving flexibility and a different way of working that better reflected what I wanted from life and work. I became self-employed when I joined a British Skincare and Spa brand as an independent consultant. I built my own client base organically, developing a strong network through relationship-led growth and consistent client experience. Alongside this, I expanded into corporate wellbeing, designing and delivering sessions for organisations.
Operating in this space required me to hold every aspect of the business. From marketing and strategy through to delivery, client experience and administration, I developed a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to build and sustain a successful business. I also took on a leadership role, mentoring and supporting a large team of self-employed consultants. Providing training, guidance and ongoing support as they built their own client bases and developed their confidence.
This experience has been a significant part of shaping how I work today, particularly my commitment to supporting women to build businesses that genuinely work for them. In 2020, I launched JM Virtual Business Solutions after recognising a gap for thoughtful, reliable operational support. What began as hands-on delivery naturally evolved over time. The more closely I worked with business owners, the more my role shifted from doing the work to thinking alongside them and shaping the strategy. That shift is what led to The Business Edit.
Today, my work is less about tasks and more about perspective. I help business owners step back, see their business clearly, and make confident decisions about what stays, what changes, and what comes next. As a busy Mum, I understand the pressure behind the scenes, the competing priorities, and the decisions that don’t always have obvious answers.
That’s where the real value of an edit comes in - creating the space to step back, make sense of what’s really going on, and move forward with clarity.
Why I’m different
Most business support starts with the business. I start with you. Because the business doesn't exist separately from the person leading it. How you think, how you make decisions, what you're carrying, what your life actually looks like day to day - all of that shapes how your business works.
I take the time to understand what makes you tick. Throughout my career, from my background in HR through to my ongoing interest in personality profiling and psychometric tools and frameworks - I've been drawn to understanding how people think, process and lead. Not to label anyone, but to build a deeper picture. Because when you understand that, everything else becomes clearer.
I work alongside you, not from the outside looking in. That means helping you make sense of what's really going on, shaping decisions that actually fit your life, and thinking through what needs to happen next. This isn't advice handed down from a distance, and it isn't task-based support either. I step in when something matters: when a decision needs to be made, when a project needs to move forward, when the business needs to evolve. Close enough to understand the detail, far enough to see the bigger picture. Able to think with you, and when needed, to step in and lead what happens next.
The result isn't just a better business on paper. It's a business that feels clearer to lead. Decisions feel more grounded, priorities make more sense, and things start to feel lighter, not heavier.
This is senior-level support - bespoke, considered, and never one-size-fits-all. And it always starts with a conversation.
Who I work best with
I work with established female founders whose businesses are doing well but feel heavier than they should behind the scenes. Nothing is “broken” - there’s just too much being carried at once. Decisions, ideas, responsibility, momentum. Growth has outpaced the space to think clearly.
The incredible female business owners I work with aren't struggling because they can't do it. They're struggling because there's just a lot of it, and most of it lands on them. That's where I come in.
Every piece of work is bespoke, focused, defined and intentional.
If you’re capable, doing well, but quietly overloaded - we’ll probably work well together!
Outside of work
Life is full - in the best possible way. I'm mum to two teenagers and married to a dedicated ultra-marathon runner, so our house is usually a background track of slamming doors, shouted PlayStation commentary, impromptu singing and FaceTimes that never seem to end.
I love the good things in life: any Italian food, cute coffee shops and brunch spots, spa days, luxury hotels, and holidays somewhere warm. A weekend away with the girls, a shopping trip, a long lunch and day drinking - these are the things that recharge me.
I am also completely obsessed with chocolate oranges, mint Matchmakers, true crime podcasts and peapods. Yes, peapods. I have a dream of owning my own peapod farm one day and I’m not even slightly questioning it.
But alongside all of that, there's a quieter side to me too. I'm drawn to spirituality, crystals, and anything that brings a bit of balance and perspective to a busy life. I'm completely open to the woo-woo — and never without my crystals.
I'm sociable, love good company, and have a weakness for a really deep conversation. But if you're looking for me after 10pm, I'll be in my PJs on the sofa with a takeaway and Come Dine with Me on in the background and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.
