Let’s talk about networking

Let’s talk about networking. Yes, THAT word. The one that instantly conjures images of awkward small talk, weird sweaty (or super firm) handshakes, wondering which corner of the room to stand in, fiddling with your phone and questioning your choice of outfit/shoe/hairstyle.

For me? Networking is (was) all the things:
😬 Cringy
👿 Intimidating
😅 Nerve-wracking
🤪 Contrived
🤯 Mentally exhausting

…But also, can be surprisingly brilliant if you find the right group! I found one - it is the most welcoming, inclusive, uplifting, energising and informal space (a MASSIVE one for me - not a power suit in sight 🫣)

There's ALWAYS potential in these meetings...

✨ A shared idea
✨ A surprising connection
✨ A potential for partnerships
✨ A reminder that we’re all just wee humans trying to figure it out

If you find networking tough too, you're not alone. Growth doesn't always come from comfort so if you feel like I used to - keep showing up—nervous smile and all—until you find a group that has the vibe you're looking for.
