The Human Side of AI
I talk a lot about human insight, emotional intelligence, relationships and calm decision making in business, so people are sometimes surprised by how much I genuinely love AI and how much I use it in my work every single day - not because I think it replaces people, creativity or original thinking, but because I think it can be an incredible tool when it’s used properly and intentionally.
For me, AI has become part of how I process ideas, organise thoughts and make sense of complexity. I use it to explore different angles, challenge my thinking, structure content, sense check strategy, simplify info, speed up research, pull together starting points and help get things out of my head when my brain is moving faster than my hands can keep up.
As someone who works closely with business owners, I actually think the rise of AI makes human skills even more valuable, not less. Because while AI can absolutely support the process, it still can’t replace intuition, emotional intelligence, lived experience, trust, relationship building or the ability to really understand what’s happening underneath the surface. It can’t sit in a conversation and feel the pressure someone is carrying. It can’t read hesitation, energy, dynamics or emotion and it can’t create genuine connection or help someone feel truly seen and understood.
That’s the part of business I care about most and probably why I enjoy AI so much. I don’t see it as replacing the human side of work, I see it as creating more space for it. Less time stuck in admin, overthinking, blank page paralysis or trying to untangle messy thoughts alone, and more time for deeper thinking, better conversations, creativity, strategy and actual connection. Honestly, sometimes it feels like having a second brain beside me 🤣
I’m genuinely fascinated by where this is all heading and I think the businesses that will thrive are the ones who learn how to combine technology with humanity, rather than choosing one over the other.
